    World’s first smartphones with real-time 3D capture 1

Xperia XZ1 & XZ1 Compact capture 3D objects with the new 3D Creator. 3D Creator from Sony uses the device camera to capture real-time 3D objects/scans via the device’s camera. During capture 3D Creator displays the scan on-screen and provides useful feedback during the process to successful capture a water-tight 3D scan. The scanning time is very quick (15-60 seconds) and any editing can be performed on the device. The resulting scan can be printed, shared or used for avatar creation, gaming and in augmented reality. 3D scanning is available out-of-the-box and does not require the installation of additional software. All processing is performed locally on the device so a data connection is not required to generate the mesh.

World’s first smartphones with Super slow motion video 2

    • World’s first memory-stacked image sensor in a smartphone
    • World’s fastest image capture technology in a smartphone
    • World’s first smartphone with 960fps video capture

The camera module of Sony’s Xperia XZ1 Compact includes a 19MP (1.22um pixel) 1/2.3” sensor stacked with a DRAM chip. Inclusion of DRAM within the camera module increases image capture speed by 5 times and facilitates the slow motion video capture of 960 frames per second. The Xperia XZ1 Compact, XZ1, XZ Premium and XZs are the world’s first smartphones to feature a memory-stacked image sensor. Fast frame rate video capture for slow motion video capture at 960fps is not available from other smartphones and instead uses software interpolation.
