    World’s Best Video Stabilization Performance

    Technical Test

Sony Xperia X Compact outperformed all leading global competitors and produced the most stable video in this assessment.

    Methodology

In September 2016, Strategy Analytics conducted a technical assessment of the video stabilization technology of the Sony Xperia X Compact smartphone compared with leading competitor devices. To test video stabilization performance, identical video clips were captured on each device under five scenarios: cycling, walking, running and taking a portrait while in motion using both the front and rear cameras. To measure stabilization performance, shifts in the X and Y axis were measured on over 330 frames per video and a mean displacement value was calculated by combining the average shift in both the X and Y direction.

    Results

The Sony Xperia X Compact produced more stable video than any of the leading competitors in three of the five scenarios. Comparing the mean displacement values across all five scenarios, Sony Xperia X Compact outperformed all of the leading global competitors and produced the most stable video overall in this assessment.
