    Claims and Test Results

    The claims on these pages are mainly based on results from tests conducted by Strategy Analytics, an independent global company specialising in market analysis. In some cases, tests were also conducted in laboratories at Sony Mobile Communications Inc.

    All claims were verified at the time of testing. However, as the mobile landscape changes quickly and new phone models are released on a continuous basis, we cannot guarantee that all claims are still valid as you read this.     Strategy Analytics has compared the device volume (cm³) and weight (g) of the Xperia T2 Ultra against all superphablets/smartphones currently announced and –based on these calculations – can confirm that the Xperia T2 Ultra can be considered the lightest, most compact smartphone in its class* ever announced.
    Device volume is calculated from the published specifications for each device (Height x Width x Depth). This calculation may not be truly representative of a device’s volume in cm³ due to non-uniform design features, e.g. camera bumps and curves in the LG G Flex.

    Top placing for slimmest cannot be claimed for the superphablet category due to the presence of the Xperia Z Ultra at a slimmer 6.5 mm.

    The Sony Xperia T2 Ultra has a 13 MP camera; this is the highest resolution within the affordable superphablet class (defined by Strategy Analytics as a smartphone with a display size of six inches or larger and a global average launch price of less than €400.

    Within the superphablet and six-inch smartphone categories the Xperia T2 Ultra comes second against Nokia’s Lumia 1520 which has a 20 MP camera and six-inch display – but this device retails for over €500.

    The above claim was found to be supported based on the published camera resolution of the Xperia T2 Ultra and the results of an independent camera feature audit conducted by Strategy Analytics between 23 December 2013 and 2 January 2014. Strategy Analytics compared the features of the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra against leading (top selling) superphablets/smartphones with a display size of six inches or greater from 2013; the Samsung Mega 6.3, Huawei Ascend Mate and ASUS Fonepad Note 6. Strategy Analytics defines the Xperia T2 Ultra’s class as: superphablets/smartphones with a display size of 6 inches or greater with a global average launch price of less than € 400 available on global distribution.
