Software update failed

If your software update fails, the phone cannot be powered on properly. When you press the Power key, the phone vibrates and for a few seconds the display either shows Sony Ericsson in gray, or a warning triangle with a yellow exclamation point and telephone symbol. The phone then turns off and remains off. To fix this problem, perform a new software update.

If the update does not start, charge your battery. You need at least 40% battery power to initiate a software update. You can leave the phone connected to the computer via the USB cable to charge, in which case the update will start automatically once the battery is charged.

If the update still does not start after a battery charge and you have connected the phone correctly, the USB handling in the computer might have stopped working. If Update Service does not say “release the back key” followed by a presentation of the update options for the connected phone after 2 minutes, restart your computer.

Avoid using hubs and docks, connect the phone’s USB cable directly to the computer’s USB port. Do not remove or attach any other USB device during the flash.
