Update Service is an online application and needs access to the Internet when in use. You only need to install the application once, you never need to update the application. Every time you start the Update Service from your computer, the application accesses the Internet, checks for updates and downloads the latest available software.
This procedure only takes a couple of minutes. Software updates are released at different times depending on your phone model and operator. How long a software update takes is very much dependent on the speed of your Internet connection and which phone model you are updating. It may take about 10 to 40 minutes to update your phone.
