Use the screen lock

Use a screen lock to protect your phone from unauthorized use. The screen lock can be a pattern, a PIN or password you enter to unlock your screen.

To set a screen lock:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Location & security > Set up screen lock.
3. Select an option and follow the instructions.

Note: It is very important that you remember your screen unlock pattern, PIN or password. If you forget this information, it may not be possible to restore important data such as contacts and messages.

To unlock the screen using a screen lock:

1. Press the Home key or Power key briefly to activate the screen.
2. Drag the lock icon to the right across the screen.
3. Draw your screen unlock pattern, or enter your unlock PIN, or password when requested, and select OK.

Note: If the screen lock is rejected five times in a row, you have to wait 30 seconds and then try again. If you draw the incorrect screen unlock pattern, you can also answer the security question you have selected.

To lock the screen manually:

• When the screen is active, briefly press the Power key.

To unlock the screen:

1. Press the Home key or Power key briefly to activate the screen.
2. Drag the lock icon to the right across the screen.
