Get to know your new Sony Ericsson phone

Your Sony Ericsson phone is based on the Google™ Android software platform and may differ from other Sony Ericsson phones. The Google™ Android software platform for mobile phones allows new applications to be installed after purchase. All you need is Mobile Internet settings to start downloading applications from Google Play™ and customise your phone to make it exclusively yours. And that’s just the start. Every new update downloads right to your phone, making it better all the time.

Getting started with the phone:

  1. Enter basic phone settings and access the Setup guide:
    • From the Home screen, find and tap Setup guide. Enter basic phone settings and set up email, social network services and synchronisation accounts.
      Tip: Make sure you set up a Google™ account to use Android™ Market, Gmail™, Google™ Talk and Calendar applications.
  2. Set up Timescape™ to communicate with a person in one place to see what’s going on.
    • From the Home screen, find and tap Settings > Sony Ericsson > Timescape™ settings > Select content. Mark the content you want to be visible. If needed, enter log in details.
  3. Synchronise your phone content, such as contacts and calendar, with a synchronisation service.
    • From the Home screen, find and tap Settings > Accounts & sync. Tap the content you want to synchronise.
  4. Start downloading applications from Android™ Market to personalise your phone.
    • From the Home screen, find and tap Market. If needed, tap Accept to accept the Terms of Service.
      Note: Availability of Android™ Market depends on your operator and country.
  5. Start personalising your corners:
    • From the Home screen, press the Menu key and tap Arrange icons. Touch and hold an item in an applications pane and then drag it to one of the corners. You can also transfer an item to or from an applications pane and any corner. When done, press the Back key.
  6. Start personalising your Home screen by adding items.
    • In the Home screen, press the Menu key and tap Arrange widgets > Add widget. Select what type of item you want to add, and the select it from the list.

Useful tip:

  • The Notification panel shows notification icons and provides quick access to open notifications such as messages, reminders and event notifications.
  • The applications panes contain all your applications and bookmarks.
  • The Home screen is the starting point of your phone and extends beyond the screen width, giving you more space to personalise it.
  • Use the User guide application to learn more about your phone and how to use it.
  • Check the notification LED located at the top left corner to view information on the phone status and pending notifications.
    • Green: The battery is fully charged.
    • Flashing green: You have a pending notification.
    • Flashing red: The battery level is low. The battery is charging and the battery level is still low.
    • Orange: The battery is charging. The level is between low and full.
