Transfer files using a USB cable

To drag and drop content between your phone and a computer:

  1. Connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable.
  2. Phone: Connected in Media transfer mode appears in the status bar.
  3. Computer: Open Microsoft® Windows® Explorer from the desktop and wait until the memory card of your phone appears as an external disk in Microsoft® Windows® Explorer.
  4. Computer: Drag and drop the desired files between your phone and the computer.

Note: Your phone can’t access the memory card while the card is being accessed by the computer. During this time some applications in the phone, such as the camera, may not be accessible.

To change a USB connection mode:

  1. Connect your phone to a computer using a USB cable.
  2. Drag the status bar downwards:
    • Tap Connected in Media transfer > Switch to MSC mode to select Mass storage mode (MSC).
    • Tap Connect your phone > Switch to MTP mode to select Media transfer mode.

Note: Don’t disconnect the USB cable when transferring content in Media transfer mode as this may corrupt the content. Also make sure to disconnect the USB cable properly.

In order for your phone to be water and dust resistant, the covers for the micro USB port and the headset connector must be firmly closed.

To disconnect the USB cable safely:

  1. Computer: Use the Safely Remove Hardware feature to disable the USB cable connection.
  2. Disconnect the USB cable from both devices.

Note: To avoid losing data, don’t disconnect the USB cable while content is being transferred.

Tip: Computer instructions may vary depending on your operating system. See the documentation for the operating system of your computer for more information.
