I cannot transfer a file using NFC, what do I need to think about?

When you cannot transfer a file using NFC, check the following:

  • Check whether NFC is activated in both phones.
  • If you are sharing a file with another phone, ensure that your phone and the receiving phone are back to back so that the NFC detection area of each phone touches the other. When the phones are connected via NFC, they both vibrate and the file transfer starts. The location of the NFC detection area is not the same on all phones. When sharing data with another phone using NFC, refer to the User guide of the other phone for more information.
  • The distance between two phones should be about one centimetre when they connect.
  • The file transferred can only be a photo, a video or an audio track. You can only transfer photos and videos from the Gallery application, and you can only share music from the Xperia™ music player.
  • The receiving phone should be in the Home screen when receiving files from the other phone.
  • Transfer one file at a time.
  • Sony uses the NFC standard for file sharing. If you are sharing a file with a non-Sony phone, and the transfer is not working properly, the non-Sony phone may not fully support the NFC standard for file sharing. To send the file, try using Bluetooth instead.
