Troubleshooting

I cannot send or receive multimedia messages, what do I need to think about?

There are a few things you can check when multimedia messaging is not working properly. The first thing to try is to download settings. If multimedia messaging is still not working after you have downloaded settings, or if the download fails or is not available, you can try adding the settings manually. If settings are in place, but multimedia messaging is still not working, try the other solutions suggested.

To download Internet and messaging settings

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Xperia™ > Internet settings.

To add Internet settings manually

  1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
  3. Press the Menu key.
  4. Tap New APN.
  5. Tap Name and enter the name of the network profile you want to create.
  6. Tap APN and enter the access point name.
  7. Enter all other information required by your network operator.
  8. Press the Menu key and tap Save.

Note: Contact your network operator for detailed information about your network settings.

To turn on all data traffic

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.
  3. Mark the Data enabled checkbox.

To check the signal strength

  • Check the signal strength in the status bar to make sure your phone is connected to a network. If the signal is weak or you have no signal, move to an open location free from obstructions, or get close to a window.

To use the full phone number when sending a message

  • Use the full phone number when you send a message. When you enter the country code, use “+” instead of “00″. Touch and hold “0″ to add a “+”.

To view the status of your memory

  1. From your Home screen, tap the Application screen icon.
  2. Find and tap Settings > Storage to view the status of your memory.

To delete messages from the Messaging application

  • Delete messages from the Messaging application to free up space in the phone memory.
