Personalise your Sony smartphone by using wallpapers, sounds and more.

Personalise your Xperia™ device

Make it truly yours. Make your Xperia™ smartphone look, behave and sound just the way you want it to. There are endless possibilities for how you can personalise your smartphone – try using different wallpapers, themes, sounds, and rearrange your Home screen to suit your needs.

Widgets

Changing the theme gives your smartphone a new look on lock screen, Home screen and menus.

Widgets are small applications that you can use directly on your Home screen. Some widgets act as a shortcut into a corresponding application, and are already added to your Home screen to make life easier for you.
You can add more widgets to your Home screen at any time. You can also change their position, and remove ones that you don’t use anymore.

Wallpapers and themes

Changing the theme gives your smartphone a new look on lock screen, Home screen and menus.

How does it look? Use your photos or the selection of wallpapers that came with your smartphone to customise your Home screen background. You can also visit Google™ Play to download brand new wallpapers.
By using themes you can change the look of your Home screen, menus, and some applications on your smartphone. Try out your favourite theme now and see how it affects the appearance.

Shortcuts

Select your favourite apps to be displayed as shortcuts directly on your Xperia™’s Home screen.

Shortcuts appear on your Home screen to help you access things quickly. You can add shortcuts to almost anything – your best friend’s number, a bookmark you want to look at later or your favourite application. To keep your Home screen tidy, touch and hold a shortcut to drag it to a new position. If you no longer use it, you can also drag it to the waste bin. But, don’t worry, you will only remove the shortcut and not the actual application or piece of information.

Folders

Tidy up your Xperia™ Home screen by creating folders.

For the organised. Keep your Home Screen tidy by creating folders of all of your group related apps and shortcuts. To move a folder, touch and hold it, and drag it to a new position.

The application screen

Sort the application screen of your smartphone by most used, alphabetically, recently installed or your own order.

The Application screen can be accessed from your Home screen and contains all of the applications that came installed with your smartphone. You can sort the Application screen alphabetically, by recently installed, by most used applications, or in your own order.

Ringtones

Add a personal touch to your smartphone by making your favourite tune your ringtone. You can choose between ringtones that came with your smartphone or select a track from your music library.
For the people who mean the most. You can select different ringtones for your friends and family so that you always know who’s calling straight away. Why not set a unique ringtone for your best friend and another for a family member.

Notifications

When you receive an email, text message or calendar reminder, your smartphone plays a notification ringtone. You can personalise this by choosing between notification ringtones that came with your smartphone, or by selecting a track from your music library.
Top tip: Pick a notification ringtone for your incoming text messages so that you can tell them apart from other events.

Protect your personal information

Protect your Sony smartphone by choosing from a number of different screen locks.

When your smartphone is on and left idle for a set period of time, the screen darkens to save battery power, and locks automatically. This lock prevents unwanted actions on the touch screen when you’re not using it. Here are the different types of locks you can choose between, listed in order of strength:

  • Slide – provides no protection, but lets you get to the Home screen quickly.
  • Face unlock* – unlocks your smartphone when you look at it.
  • Unlock pattern – draw a simple pattern with your finger to unlock the smartphone.
  • Unlock PIN – enter a numeric password of at least four digits to unlock your smartphone.
  • Unlock password – enter an alpha-numeric password to unlock your smartphone.

*The Face unlock feature requires an Xperia™ smartphone with Android™ version 4.0 or later, equipped with a front camera.
