Avoid duplicate contacts

If you synchronise your contacts with a new account, or import contact information in other ways, you could end up with duplicate entries in your Phonebook. If this happens, you can join such duplicates to create a single entry. If you join entries by mistake, you can separate them again later.

To join contacts:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon.
2. Find and tap Phonebook / Contacts.
3. Touch and hold the contact that you want to join with another contact, then tap Join contacts.
4. From the list that appears, tap the contact whose information you want to join with the first contact. The information from the second contact is then added to the first contact, and the second contact is no longer displayed in the Contacts list.

To separate joined contacts:

1. From the Home screen, tap the Application screens icon.
2. Find and tap Phonebook / Contacts.
3. Touch and hold the joined contact you want to edit, then tap Edit contact.
4. Press the Menu key, then tap Separate.
5. Tap OK.
